Cheng Cheung Ling and Eric Tse Attend the Inaugural Hong Kong Embodied AI Industry Summit, Ushering in a New Era of Embodied AI Productivity

On May 12, the inaugural Hong Kong Embodied AI Industry Summit, co-initiated by the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations and AgileX Robotics, opened in Hong Kong. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Frederick Ma Si-hang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Cheng Cheung Ling, President of Chia Tai Pharmaceutical Group and President of the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations, attended the event and delivered speeches. Deng Taihua, Founder, Chairman and CEO of AgileX Robotics, delivered a keynote speech. Eric Tse, Chief Executive Officer of Sino Biopharm (1177.HK), participated as the moderator of a roundtable forum.

The summit brought together representatives from the Hong Kong government, industry, academia, research, and finance to engage in in-depth discussions on the industrial development, real-world applications, industry-academia-research collaboration, and global layout of embodied intelligence, jointly ushering in a new era of embodied AI productivity.

In his speech, John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, stated that embodied intelligence, as an important form of interaction between AI and the physical world, has become a key engine for promoting industrial upgrading and cultivating new quality productive forces. Hong Kong boasts a group of world-renowned experts and scholars in the fields of AI and robotics, with its academic research level ranking among the top in the world. Frederick Ma Si-hang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said that Hong Kong, as a "super-connector" and "super value-adder", can assist mainland artificial intelligence enterprises in "going global".As the AI industry continues to grow, more companies need to expand their markets and build their brands. With its advantages of connecting the mainland and the world, Hong Kong is an ideal platform for mainland AI companies to "go global". The HKTDC will continue to strengthen its support, further leverage Hong Kong's platform role, and assist mainland enterprises and brands in steadily "going global".

In her speech, Cheng Cheung Ling, President of the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations, stated that Hong Kong has always been a meeting point for global wisdom and a testing ground for world dreams. Backed by the motherland and connected to the world, Hong Kong boasts top universities, super science and innovation bases, and an open ecosystem. Today, as intelligent robots move from laboratories to industry and from concepts to daily life, it is the most vivid breakthrough for Hong Kong's new quality productive forces and new industrialization.

In his keynote speech, Deng Taihua, Founder, Chairman and CEO of AgileX Robotics, proposed that 2026 will be the first year of the deployment phase, where embodied intelligence officially moves from the "development phase" to the "deployment phase", and from "being able to move" to "being able to work".When a robot can work autonomously and create value independently, it becomes a true productive force in the physical AI world. The value of this industry will grow with the improvement of robots' working capabilities, the enrichment of application scenarios, and the continuous increase in deployment scale.

At the roundtable forum "The Physical AI Era: Thoughts and Breakthroughs of Emerging Tech Forces", Eric Tse, Chief Executive Officer of Sino Biopharm, as the moderator, engaged in in-depth dialogue with representatives from emerging enterprises such as PsiBot, AheadForm, Link-touch, and Infinigence AI. They discussed the breakthrough paths for the new generation of entrepreneurs at the crossroads of industrial change, focusing on dimensions like the underlying technology, core value, and business judgment of physical AI, jointly outlining the innovative future of the embodied intelligence industry.

To accelerate industrial implementation, several major launch ceremonies were held at the summit. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Luo Yonggang, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Li Huiqiong, President of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR; Li Yongsheng, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR; Ms. Lillian Cheong Man-lei, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government; Frederick Ma Si-hang, Chairman of the HKTDC; Professor Teng Jin-guang, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Cheng Cheung Ling, President of the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations; and Deng Taihua, Founder of AgileX Robotics, along with other representatives from government, industry, academia, and research, jointly launched the "Hong Kong Embodied Intelligence Industry Co-creation Plan".
The plan aims to gather multi-party forces from Hong Kong's "government, business, industry, academia, research, and application" sectors to help the Hong Kong embodied intelligence industry achieve the "1, 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000" goal in the next five years—namely, establishing the AgileX Robotics International R&D Headquarters in Hong Kong, setting up several industry-research joint laboratories, cultivating dozens of embodied intelligence innovative enterprises, developing hundreds of industrial partners, etc., and further driving the synergistic development of the industrial chain, application scenarios, and innovative forces, to promote China's embodied intelligence industry to go global.

In addition, the summit successively launched the "Hong Kong Embodied Intelligence Productivity Application Co-creation Plan", the "Greater Bay Area Industry-Academia-Research Ecosystem Launch Ceremony", and the "Hong Kong Embodied AI Innovation and Entrepreneurship Investment Plan". These initiatives focus on the implementation of embodied intelligence in scenarios such as commercial services, public services, scientific research and education, and robotics applications; deepen the synergistic innovation of industry, academia, and research, as well as talent cultivation and industrial transformation in the Greater Bay Area; and leverage capital to empower the incubation of embodied intelligence innovation and entrepreneurship projects in Hong Kong.
