100 Million Yuan Donation! Chia Tai Tianqing Partners with China Science and Technology Development Foundation to Co-create a Biopharmaceutical Innovation Ecosystem

Release Date: 2026-05-23

On May 22, Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group, a core enterprise of Sino Biopharmaceutical (1177.HK), donated 100 million yuan to the China Science and Technology Development Foundation. This move actively implements the national "15th Five-Year Plan" strategic layout, helps build the biopharmaceutical industry into a national emerging pillar industry, and empowers the nation's high-level scientific and technological self-reliance with concrete actions.

The "15th Five-Year Plan" outline clearly lists biopharmaceuticals as a national emerging pillar industry, marking a new stage of strategic leap for China's biopharmaceutical industry - from following to leading, from a combination of imitation and innovation to original innovation, and from scale efficiency to high-quality development. As a leading innovative pharmaceutical enterprise in China, Chia Tai Tianqing's donation is both a vivid practice of fulfilling corporate social responsibility in the new era and demonstrating the mission of a national pharmaceutical company, and a strategic move to proactively integrate into the national science and technology innovation layout and fully serve the construction of national emerging pillar industries.

As a core enterprise of Sino Biopharmaceutical, Chia Tai Tianqing has long been deeply engaged in the R&D of new drugs for major diseases such as tumor, liver disease, respiratory diseases, and infection. It has always regarded innovation as its lifeline for development. Through diversified models such as independent innovation, cooperative introduction, and acquisition, it has carved out a distinctive development path that focuses on cutting-edge technology, closely follows clinical needs, and strengthens "systematic innovation" and the autonomy and control of the industrial chain. This 100 million yuan donation will be specifically used to build five core platforms: a national-level collaborative innovation platform for medicine, academia, research, and healthcare; a platform for cultivating and incentivizing scientific and technological talent; a platform for popularizing science for a Healthy China and disseminating public health literacy; a platform for international exchange and cooperation in medical science and technology; and a platform for the transformation of medical innovation achievements and industrial empowerment. It will fully support national efforts in tackling cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements, talent cultivation, and public welfare in science and technology.

Eric Tse, Chief Executive Officer of Sino Biopharmaceutical and Chairman of Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group, stated that this donation to the China Science and Technology Development Foundation is both a political consciousness of the company to integrate into the national innovation landscape and practice high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, and a strategic choice to deepen integrated innovation, promote the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and cultivate new quality productive forces in the biopharmaceutical industry. In the future, relying on this donation, the company will focus on implementing three core tasks: first, creating a "strong magnetic field" to attract scientific and technological talent, stimulating the innovative vitality of nearly 3,000 global R&D personnel and attracting top talent; second, building an "interchange" for the integration of industry and research, linking universities, research institutes, clinical institutions, and industry chain partners to bridge the key gap from basic research to industrialization; third, acting as a "sower" of the scientific spirit, fostering a corporate culture that advocates innovation and tolerates failure, thereby solidifying the foundation of innovation.

Feng Shenhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Vice Chairman, and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), expressed his gratitude to Chia Tai Tianqing for its support of China's science and technology development. In his speech, he pointed out that the foundation, as an important public welfare platform of CAST, has always adhered to its mission of serving science and technology workers, serving scientific and technological innovation, and serving national development, achieving fruitful results in building talent cultivation platforms and transforming scientific and technological achievements. The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement by both parties not only upholds the cooperative principle of complementary advantages and common development but is also a vivid practice of CAST promoting the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation. It is hoped that this cooperation will fully leverage the advantages of all parties, exert efforts in the same direction in fields such as talent cultivation, scientific research and development, and achievement transformation, and promote the implementation and effectiveness of all work.

This cooperation will further open up the channel for the transformation of industry, academia, research, and application, accelerating the clinical translation and industrialization of major scientific research achievements, and allowing more original, good medicines to benefit patients worldwide. Chia Tai Tianqing will also continue to deepen its commitment to innovation, contributing solid innovative strength to the construction of a Healthy China and a nation strong in science and technology.

Qin Deji, Vice Chairman of the China Science and Technology Development Foundation; Zhang Wei, Secretary-General of the China Science and Technology Development Foundation; responsible comrades from the Organization and Personnel Department, Popular Science Department, International Cooperation Department, and Institute of Innovation Strategy of CAST; and responsible comrades from Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group, China Health Media Group, and CCTV.com jointly attended the signing ceremony.
