From August 11 to 16, the 2026 Health Industry Ecology Conference (HIE) was held in Boao, Hainan. Sino Biopharmaceutical Limited (SBP Group, 1177.HK) and its member companies Chia Tai Tianqing and CT Qingjiang won six major industry awards: SBP Group was simultaneously selected for the "Top 100 List of Comprehensive Competitiveness of China's Pharmaceutical Industry 2026" and the "Top 10 R&D Performers in China's Pharmaceutical Industry 2026", while Debaian/Zepolas, Tianqing Sule, Jiuli, and Saitanxin were listed on the "2026 Healthy China·Brand List" and "2026 Healthy China·New Drug of the Year". Selected for Two Lists, Innovation and Transformation Capabilities Receive Authoritative Recognition Again

 

Among the most watched corporate lists at this year's HIE, SBP Group was selected for both the "Top 100 List of Comprehensive Competitiveness of China's Pharmaceutical Industry 2026" and the "Top 10 R&D Performers in China's Pharmaceutical Industry 2026". The comprehensive competitiveness evaluation system for the pharmaceutical industry was developed by the Sinohealth Industry Research Institute. It assesses the overall development level of pharmaceutical industrial enterprises based on three core dimensions: "Market/Valuation," "Commercialization Capability," and "R&D Capability." The "Top 10 R&D Performers" list is generated based on individual scores in R&D capability, focusing on a company's ability for continuous innovation and result transformation. 

 

According to industry data, the average R&D expenditure of the "Top 10 R&D Performers" in 2025 reached RMB 5.21 billion, which is 3.9 times the average of the top 100 companies. In 2025, SBP Group's full-year R&D expenses reached RMB 5.87 billion, accounting for 18.4% of its operating revenue, and its cumulative R&D expenses over the past three years exceeded RMB 15 billion. More persuasive than the scale of investment is the accelerated clinical application of innovative achievements: from 2023 to the present, SBP Group has had 9 Class 1 new drugs and 7 biosimilars approved for marketing, covering tumor, metabolism, surgical analgesia, and rare disease treatment. In 2025, revenue from innovative products increased by 26.2% year-on-year, and innovation investment is rapidly becoming the core driver of SBP Group's performance growth, providing a strong endorsement for its selection to both lists. 

 

Four Drugs Crowned, Diverse Product Value Wins Market Recognition

 

In the product brand selection, Debaian/Zepolas^®, Tianqing Sule^®, and Jiuli^® were selected for the "2026 Healthy China·Brand List," while Saitanxin^® was named "2026 Healthy China·New Drug of the Year." The "Healthy China·Brand List" is based on the 4D-BES evaluation system, conducting a comprehensive assessment from four dimensions: product value, market value, profit expectation, and user praise. The "New Drug of the Year" focuses on innovative drugs approved for marketing in 2025 that have clinical value and technological breakthroughs. The four products cover the fields of analgesia, respiratory, bone health, and tumor treatment, including both mature brands with many years in the market and innovative achievements that fill clinical needs. 

 

 

 

 

 

Debaian/Zepolas^® (Flurbiprofen Cataplasms) is a representative product in the field of topical analgesia. It uses hydrogel transdermal technology and features long-acting pain relief, convenient application, and good tolerability. It can be used for osteoarthritis and various acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, soft tissue injury, and other scenarios, continuously meeting the demand for out-of-hospital pain management. 

 

Tianqing Sule^® (Tiotropium Bromide Powder for Inhalation) is the first domestically developed Tiotropium Bromide Powder for Inhalation approved for marketing, developed by Chia Tai Tianqing. Related research was supported by the national "863 Program." It is indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), can improve dyspnoea and prevent acute exacerbations, providing a convenient and stable long-term medication option for patients with chronic respiratory diseases. 

 

CT Qingjiang's Jiuli^® (Glucosamine Hydrochloride Tablets) has been deeply rooted in the bone health field for twenty years, continuously improving its product and service system around the full-cycle needs of bone and joint health. At this year's HIE, CT Qingjiang also launched two new non-drug products, a topical glucosamine care solution and a bone collagen peptide calcium nutritional drink, further expanding the scenarios for daily bone health maintenance. 

 

Saitanxin^® (Culmerciclib Capsules) is the world's first CDK2/4/6 inhibitor independently developed by Chia Tai Tianqing. It has been approved for first-line and second-line treatment of HR+/HER2- locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer. The innovative molecular design addresses the issue of drug resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors mechanistically, while balancing anti-tumor effects with bone marrow safety. Its clinical accessibility is a microcosm of the acceleration of Chinese innovative drugs from "follow-on innovation" to "first-in-class innovation". 

 

Connecting Overseas and Out-of-Hospital Markets, Opening New Space for Innovation Value Transformation

 

 

During the conference, Tse Hsin shared his thoughts at the roundtable forum on "Hematopoietic Capabilities in a Capital Winter: International BD and Domestic Commercialization." He focused on the international cooperation and commercial value transformation of innovative drugs, emphasizing the synergy of independent innovation and open collaboration to connect high-quality innovative assets with global resources, and to accelerate the delivery of innovative outcomes to patients through more efficient domestic commercialization capabilities. In the past two years, SBP Group has successively acquired LaNova Medicines and Hygieia, and has reached cooperation agreements with MNCs such as Sanofi, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, and Boehringer Ingelheim. From integrating domestic technology platforms to the "one in, one out" of innovative assets, this reflects a shift in the internationalization logic of China's innovative drug industry. These practices are driving deeper integration of Chinese innovation into the global R&D and commercialization systems, and are also helping companies build sustainable international growth capabilities. 

 

 

Wang Kun proposed at the "Out-of-Hospital Market Health Solutions Ecosystem Forum · Chronic Disease Management Roundtable Dialogue" that chronic disease management should move from conceptual advocacy to executable, traceable, and replicable standardized services. Focusing on pain points such as patients' difficulty in adhering to standardized medication, regular monitoring, and scientific maintenance over the long term, Chia Tai Tianqing continues to deploy innovative therapies for chronic diseases at the source. On the patient side, it uses digital tools for disease education, medication guidance, and health management. On the service side, it collaborates with retail chains to build a standardized, full-cycle patient health service system, promoting the routine and replicable implementation of out-of-hospital chronic disease management.
