CTTQ Joins National Natural Science Foundation's Joint Fund for Enterprise Innovation and Development, Integrating into the National Basic Research System

Release Date: 2026-09-29

Recently, CTTQ (Chia Tai Tianqing), a core enterprise of Sino Biopharmaceutical Limited (SBP Group, 01177.HK), signed an agreement with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) to contribute 100 million RMB to participate in the Joint Fund for Innovation and Development of Private Enterprises of the National Natural Science Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the "Joint Fund"). CTTQ will deeply integrate into the national basic research system as a "problem setter," focusing on major disease areas such as tumor, liver diseases, and respiratory diseases, to attract universities, research institutes, and medical institutions across the country to jointly "solve problems". This move is also a significant measure for the company to thoroughly implement the national innovation-driven development strategy and actively respond to the "15th Five-Year Plan" regarding the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation.

Leveraging National Scientific Research Strength to Create Over 50 Key Supported Projects

According to the agreement, the Joint Fund will be co-established and funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and CTTQ, with CTTQ planning to invest 100 million RMB. The Joint Fund will rely on the operational mechanism of the National Natural Science Foundation to encourage high-level research by innovative entities such as universities, research institutes, and medical institutions across the country through fair competition and merit-based support. Approved projects will be funded as key supported projects, with a funding period of 4 years and an average direct cost funding intensity of about 2.2 million RMB per project. The cumulative number of funded projects will reach over 50.

CTTQ will fully leverage its profound expertise in pharmaceutical innovation. Focusing on major disease areas such as tumor, liver diseases, and respiratory diseases, it will adopt a model of "enterprise proposes problems, foundation provides the platform, and the nation solves them" to proactively make forward-looking plans and precisely target the underlying scientific "bottleneck" problems in the pharmaceutical field. This mechanism aims to solve key technological bottlenecks from the source and at the fundamental level, using original achievements to feed back into industrial upgrading, and building a solid industrial foundation for the implementation of the national science and technology innovation strategy in the pharmaceutical field.

Venturing into "Uncharted Territory" with "Patient Capital" to Build a Virtuous Innovation Ecosystem

As a core enterprise under SBP Group, CTTQ is an innovative pharmaceutical group integrating drug R&D, production, and commercialization. It has long been deeply engaged in therapeutic areas such as tumor, liver diseases, and respiratory diseases, establishing a leading position in the industry. This time, CTTQ's substantial financial commitment of 100 million RMB to the innovation fund is not only a tangible contribution to the national diversified basic research investment system but also a responsible act of nurturing original innovation with "patient capital" and venturing into the "uncharted territory" of innovation. It reflects the company's determination to continuously increase R&D investment and promote original pharmaceutical innovation.

CTTQ will use the Joint Fund as a link, relying on the national-level platform of the National Natural Science Foundation, to solve fundamental scientific problems and promote clinical translation. At the same time, it will attract and cultivate a group of strategic scientists and outstanding young talents in the biomedical field, accelerating the formation of a virtuous innovation ecosystem of "basic research - technological breakthroughs - results transformation - talent aggregation." This will contribute solid industrial strength to the construction of a Healthy China and the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.
